Need a laugh? I need a laugh.
Since I haven't heard any news regarding The Husband's training, I figured I would share a story. A story about a new, young Marine wife and her desire to be close to her husband however possible.
A few years ago, before we were married, my parents got some new neighbors down the road. Turns out, they were the parents of a kid I went to high school with. He had joined the Army at first and then switched to the Marine Corps. He always kept his white barracks cover in the rear dash of his car.
When The Husband decided to join the Marines, I thought to myself "I want that white hat [lol!] in my rear dash."
Once he graduated and we got married, I asked him why The Neighbor Kid kept his back there, since I figured he would know that now. He said it kept the material tight and the sun cleaned it. Oh good! Another way to help out my husband, by keeping his cover clean and in great condition. All the while still being able to show off that I am married to a Marine.
So on the rear dash his cover went. The Husband left for SOI a couple of weeks after the wedding and I took that cover everywhere I went.
He came home from SOI for Christmas vacation. All was well until that dreaded moment when The Husband decided he didn't want his barracks cover on my rear dash. He said that boots did that and he didn't want to broadcast to the world that he was, in fact, a boot. So he pulled it down and set it on the seat until we got home.
::cue utter hysteria::
I lost.my.mind.
Seriously. Full on sobs.
::cue confused husband::
He had no idea what was going on. All he could ask was "What is wrong?!"
All I could get out between the sobs and gasps for air was "I waaaaant it there! I see it and feel better because it's yourrrrrs!"
For real.
Honestly, I think it was the stress of not knowing where the heck we were going to be in 3 months, me quitting my job soon, school, and still coming down off the wedding that finally sent me over the edge. Whatever it was, it was not one of my finest moments. heh
By the way, the cover is still on my rear dash. Ha!
